Maltese Market

Malta, as it is commonly known, is primarily an archipelago of three islands (Malta, Gozo and Comino) strategically located in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, just fifty (50) miles south of Sicily. Due to historical reasons, probably dating back to the Phoenicians- an ancient civilization which popularised and dominated maritime trading in the Mediterranean between 1550 BC to 300 BC- and given that the Maltese islands are surrounded by the Mediterranean sea, the Maltese yachting industry is advanced (if not a leader in the Mediterranean) and well positioned to serve the needs of local and foreign yacht owners.

In fact, and unlike any other EU country, Malta offers yacht owners seeking to buy a sailing boat or power boat, a significant and highly attractive cost saving on VAT. Depending on the size of the yacht, whether motor or sail, one can pay between 5.4-12% VAT. This is a EU recognised scheme, thus making the vessel ‘EU VAT PAID’ and free to navigate EU waters with no restrictions whatsoever. There are further benefits to be availed of through this scheme and interested parties are welcome to contact us for free advice and guidance.
